Bodies & Beauty

"The rules about women’s bodies were exacting, and you could always measure your distance from the ideal, even if it was not a great distance. And even if you got over your imperfections of form, the realities of biology, of bodily functions and fluids, were always at odds with the feminine ideal, and a host of products, jokes, and sneers reminded you of that"

Rebecca Solnit, Recollections of My Nonexistence: A Memoir

When it comes to kids' BODIES, we have 3 Goals:

1. Teaching our kids they have the right to decide what happens to their bodies

2. Helping kids embrace the bodies they're born with

3. Creating an open channel of judgment-free communication so they'll take their questions and concerns to us first

When it comes to kids' BEAUTY, we want kids to know:

1. They're SOMEBODY not some body

2. Beauty is in the eye of the....TIMES

3. There's too much focus on appearance
